The Night

Black and stillness, long and sleepy.
Dark winds walk, trees move, creaky.
Windows lighted, the moon is bright.
Mountains I can see behind the moonlight.
Dogs bark in the distance.
The sun is gone, the moon is in the presence.
The roads, the streets, they are bare.
There are no cars, which is very rare.
Chatter, a chipmunk talking.
A little tweet, sounds like a hawkling.
The dark waters mumble still.
An owl eats, there is a shriek, a mouse moves at will.
The lights are on the windows.
The rustles, the grass, it's been let go.
A far off bubbling from a creek.
A squirrel moves faster than you can blink...
